Interview Process
and Tips
The interview process can vary but typically we will contact you to arrange an initial interview (either face-to-face or online) with the hiring line manager. A second interview may involve completing a practical task related to the role or a meeting with potential team members. We may include a third interview on some occasions before making a decision.
Inside Experience
One of our new starters, Dhiren, had this to say about his interview experience with AFL Hyperscale:
1st interview: My first interview was an initial phone call interview with the line manager to get to know each other and understand more about the role. It also involved understanding whether there is good alignment with the company culture and myself, and if I seemed a good fit for the role.
2nd interview: This was a panel interview that took place with the line manager and the team so that I could introduce myself to everyone and tell them a bit about me and my background. This gave them the opportunity to ask me questions related to the role and gave me an opportunity to meet the team members to see whether we got on and would work well together.
It was a very positive experience right from the first phone call because the manager observed the qualities and personal skills as part of me, rather than just focusing on the experience listed on my CV.
This approach was very unique. I haven't come across any other companies where you get the opportunity to meet the team beforehand. I was flattered that they took the time out of their day to come and get to know me. They made me feel so welcome and like I was part of the team already.”Dhiren
Interview Tips
1. Prepare
It’s always a good idea for any interview to prepare a bit by reading up on the company (take a look at our About Us section) and make a note of any questions you might have.
2. Show Personality
We are always keen to get an insight into a candidate’s personality, so in addition to hearing about your experience and skillset, we are always keen to hear your thoughts and opinions. Such as how you would approach a topic or problem, what you would do in a specific situation, and your initial impressions on us as a company.
3. Listen & Ask Questions
Most importantly, make sure you are focused and attentive in the interview. Listen and don’t be afraid to take your time to think about your answer. We want our interviews to be insightful and engaging for all parties so feel free to ask questions if something is unclear. This is as much for us to find out about you, as it is for you to find out about us.
